Congratulations to Marcellus Moore, a junior at Plainfield North High School in Plainfield, Illinois as the 2019 ILXCTF.com Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year.

Moore demonstrated once again that he has become the top sprinter ever for Illinois High School Track & Field history. The junior defended his state titles at 100 Meter Dash and 200 Meter Dash. His win at 200-meters will go down in state meet history as Moore, who had suffered from a hamstring injury before the state meet, pulled up with 50-meters left in the race. He still found a way to cross the line ahead of the rest of the field running 21.22 for the win. The “Hamstring 200” will be in the memory of anyone that saw that race. It showed how much heart Moore has.

Finnigan Schirmer of Marengo, Kyle Kruthoff of Erie, and Andrew O’Keefe of Granite City were also considered in this category.
